释义	大檀（？—429）亦作大但、檀檀。柔然可汗。社仑季父仆浑次子。镇西部，有威望。北魏神瑞元年（414）杀其侄步鹿真自立，号牟汗纥升盖可汗（意为“制胜之王”）。不时南犯魏边。神纑二年（429），为拓跋焘击败。所属高车各部乘机起义，杀柔然部众，前后降魏者三十余万，遂发疾死。后又作柔然之别称。
