释义	字林西报（North China Daily News）又称《字林报》。英国人在上海创办的历时甚久的英文报纸。英商字林洋行出版。清同治三年（1864）发刊。系由《北华捷报》发展而来。刊载中外新闻，发布上海租界政法、商业消息，为公共租界工部局的喉舌。1951年3月31日停刊。
